Here at Natural Selection we pride ourselves on the quality of our guides, and in order to keep working with top-notch guides, environmentalists and conservationists, we take our duty to inspire future generations extremely seriously, so we were in our element at The Jackal & Hide recently when our guides underwent training and then put it into practice with the local kids.

A seriously efficient crew that included the team from Coaching 4 Conservation team and guides from Sable Alley and The Jackal & Hide descended on the Khwai Private Reserve Camp in Botswana, ready to better their (already impressive) family guiding skills.

Together, they completed the meticulously constructed Coaching 4 Conservation course, which educates and inspires youngsters through a serious of activities, and is run by well-respected scientists and conservationists. The guides played various games and gained a deeper understanding of what the programme is all about, and why it’s so important.

With interest and enthusiasm piqued, it was time to put the new skills into practice, and who better to inspire than our future stars from the local Khwai village? Our guides took the kids under their wings, and guided them through the games and activities, teaching them all about the extraordinary natural world that’s right at their fingertips, but might sometimes feel a world away.

Little faces lit up as these youngsters learned all about their neighboring wildlife, and in the process fostering respect for the animals, themselves, and their peers.

We feel it’s so important that these children grow up knowing the bush and its inhabitants, and that they have every opportunity to pursue a career within it in the future, that this will now become a bi-annual event.
