7 Days | 6 Nights - Sable Alley & Duke's Camp / Duke's East
Spend seven days getting to know the Okavango Delta in all its splendor. From the game-rich floodplains of Khwai Private Reserve in the greater Okavango Delta, to the northern regions of the Delta (NG12) overflowing with adventure and wildlife abundance.
Both camps offer a complementary Okavango Delta wildlife experience. Sable Alley boasts prime wildlife viewing along the Khwai River, attracting a high diversity of animals, lots of predator action, and sightings of the rarer roan. While Duke’s offers a unique experience in an area frequented by thousands of elephants annually and permanent water offering up sightings of otter, sitatunga and hippo and revealing more of the rarer species including serval and pangolin. Get ready for unforgettable encounters, in two diverse yet varied Okavango Delta ecosystems.
Your trip starts in the Khwai Private Reserve, where you’ve got 200,000 hectares of pristine wilderness to play with. Sable Alley sits in a rather lovely spot, right on the banks of a wildlife-spotted lagoon. The water is home to up to 35 harrumphing hippo, and is a favourite drinking spot for elephant and buffalo. The camp itself is a piece of light, bright and beautiful luxury, surrounded by wild adventure. Over the next three days enjoy a diverse range of land and water-based activities (you can even take a stab at being a KPR Ranger for a morning). This truly is an Okavango Delta delight!
From Khwai you’ll charter to Duke’s Camp (or Duke’s East right next door) brought to life by Ralph Bousfield and the creators of Jack’s Camp. Enjoy the same yesteryear charm and understated luxury in the unspoilt wilderness of the northern Okavango Delta. Pitched on raised wooden decks beneath a canopy of ebony and leadwood trees, the luxurious safari tents offer an unforgettable under-canvas adventure in the midst of this remarkable World Heritage Site. With expert guides honed in the bushcraft and lore of the Delta, there are few better ways to explore this wild landscape rich in game and natural beauty, lying waiting to be discovered.
This safari starts and ends in Maun in Botswana. Peak season for the Okavango Delta is between April and October. During these dry winter months, water from the Angolan highlands arrives and water levels in the Delta are high, offering the best conditions for mokoro and boat activities and exceptional game viewing opportunities as wildlife is drawn to the water from the surrounding dry areas.
