A Gin Fling At Sable Alley

Whilst the action happens out in the bush, we know all too well how important the in-camp experience is as well, and that’s why you’ll find plenty of little touches throughout our camps that’ll make you sink back into your chair, exhale loudly and think ‘this is the life’.

One such little touch is the really rather marvelous gin bar we have at Sable Alley in Khwai Private Reserve. Sure, wines and refined and cocktails are fun, and while we offer an array of wines and spirits on our well thought out drinks menu, we could think of nothing more fun after a busy and exciting day on safari than the opportunity for guests to prop up the bar exchanging tales of the bush, as they’re served an array of different gins from near and far.

Our gins are mostly sourced from Africa, but we’ve thrown a few international favourites in there too, offering everything from pink gins to fynbos gins, and everything in between. Guests are able to enjoy a proper tasting so there’s no need to commit to one straight away when the one for you might be just a few bottles away!

Current favourites in camp include Bloedlemoen, a handcrafted small-batch gin made in South Africa from ten natural botanicals including juniper, blood orange, orange peel, and nutmeg, resulting in a classic London dry style of drink. Inverroche Gin Verdant is another South African offering that is infused with fynbos from the Cape Floral Kingdom, resulting in a soft and floral gin with a golden-green colour.

This is a really fun way for guests to kick back and discover a few new favourites at the end of the day – make sure you don’t miss out, book your room at Sable Alley, and your spot at the bar now!
