Our properties and reserves cover vast swathes of land in Botswana and Namibia. We only operate in ecologically significant areas that we truly care about, and where we feel we can make a difference while still offering a fantastic guest experience.

Two weeks ago we were able to finally announce our first lodge in South Africa which will open in April 2019, so we thought you might like to know a bit more about it.

Lekkerwater Beach Lodge at De Hoop is situated in the eastern sector of De Hoop Nature Reserve, just over a three hour drive from Cape Town. The lodge, which is positioned right beside a six kilometre stretch of private beach, was ‘Camp David’ to ex President FW de Klerk.

Lekkerwater (which translates as ‘the place of good water’) has seven rooms, each of which enjoys a glorious outlook across the ocean and beach outside. Not only does the coastline outside boast a plethora of rockpools to explore, it also offers some of the planet’s most productive whale watching, with dolphins aplenty too. From July through to November, Southern Right Whales and their calves travel here from Antarctica, providing some heart-stompingly spectacular and unforgettable sightings for guests to take in.

For those who are able to tear themselves away from the whales (and we won’t force you to, we know they’re hypnotic), there are also myriad walks to enjoy, with an experienced naturalist in tow, through the glorious fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom. There’s even a rare vulture breeding colony to keep your eyes peeled for!

Welcome to the beach, where life is lekker.
