Overview

With a variety of land and water-based activities in two game rich areas, you can look forward to a rewarding wildlife experience on this trip. Spend 7 days getting to enjoy some of the best game viewing in the Okavango Delta at Mokolwane in the south, and Mbamba in the north. Mokolwane is tucked away in 180 000-hectares of wilderness in the Xudum concession (NG29) and this is leopard country, boasting the third highest density recorded anywhere in Africa. Mbamba, in the NG12 concession in the northern parts of the Delta offers an impressive year round density and variety of wildlife, including rare and sought-after species. Here the wildlife never stops.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1 -3: Mokolwane

From Maun airport you will get in a private helicopter and fly straight out to Mokolwane, over the iconic Okavango Delta with birds-eye views of this wetland wonder below, before landing near camp. Big on adventure, Mokolwane is a small, relaxed camp in one of the largest concessions in the Okavango Delta. Teeming with herds of elephant and all the Okavango predators, it’s no surprise that National Geographic and Netflix filmmaker Brad Bestelink has chosen to base himself here.

Sleep in total comfort, 10 feet above the ground, amongst the shady bows of fig, jackal berry, ilala palm and wild mangosteens. Over the next 3 days your private guide will reveal the wonders of this exclusive and impressive concession in Botswana. Spend your mornings, afternoons and early evening on game drives and mokoro excursions exploring this beautiful yet diverse ecosystem, ticking off birds and wildlife (especially big cats) at a rate of knots.

Day 4-7: Mbamba

From Mokolwane you’ll heli out to Mbamba, located in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta. This is a classically styled camp, with its plush fabrics, mahogany sideboards, Persian rugs and romantic four-poster beds, infused with a yesteryear charm. Mbamba is where the action never stops.

The area around camp is known for its reliable predator viewing, especially for observing endangered African wild dogs and lions. Trained by safari legend Ralph Bousfield, the guiding team here are some of the best in the business and guaranteed to give you a deeper understanding of the natural world. Immerse yourself on game drives, or exploring the lily-filled waterways by boat or on a traditional mokoro and in-between all the adventure the camp swimming pool is the perfect relaxation spot.
