Overview

From the billowing white tents, shaded by desert palms and surrounded by a thousand acres of shimmering sparkling nothingness, that is San Camp – to the vast savannahs of the Khwai Private Reserve, home to the delightful Sable Ally.

This seven day itinerary will immerse you in these two vastly different landscapes, the first being a wilderness of desert delights and the latter pure wildlife abundance.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1 -3: San Camp

You’ll spend your first three nights at San Camp, an impossibly romantic hideaway on the edge of the iconic Nwetwe Pan in the Makgadikgadi. Here, the magic is in the minimalism, both at the camp and in the mysterious desert landscape.

You can forget the tourist crowds and over-stuffed 4x4s too; it’s just you, the wildlife, and a handful of local San Bushmen, waiting to share their secrets with you. Meerkats pop up from the desert dust, brown hyena hide in the grass, and you’ll see red hartebeest, springbok and gemsbok scurrying between them. But San Camp isn’t just about wildlife-watching, it’s about the atmosphere and the ethereal surroundings and with 360-degree panoramas so vast, you can see the curvature of the earth.

Day 4-6: Sable Alley

From San Camp  you’ll charter by plane to Sable Ally that sits in a rather lovely spot, right next to the banks of a lush lagoon. This is a stark contrast from the dry desert you’ve just left behind. Spacious, sophisticated and really quite stylish, the camp sits amid the game-rich floodplains of Khwai Private Reserve, 200,000-hectares of pristine wilderness in the Greater Okavango Delta region.

Here there’s something different in every season and the wildlife is out-of-this-world all year round, over the next three days enjoy a diverse range of land and water-based activities – this is a true Okavango Delta delight!

Additional Information

Logistics / Seasons

This safari starts and ends in Maun in Botswana. One of the best times to visit the Makgadikgadi Pans is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. During this time, the pans are dried up and you can easily access them for activities like quad biking, game viewing, and stargazing. During green season, which runs from November to March, witness the second largest migration of zebra and wildebeest in Africa (and it’s the last remaining one in Southern Africa). Peak season for the Okavango Delta is between April and October. During these dry winter months, water from the Angolan highlands arrives and water levels in the Delta are high, offering the best conditions for mokoro and boat activities and exceptional game viewing opportunities as wildlife is drawn to the water from the surrounding dry areas.

2025 Price from $10,425 shoulder season (1 April – 30 April) to $14,365 peak season (1 July – 31 Aug).

Book this package to take advantage of a 15 % discount for travel between 1 October and 31 March.
