Safari Itinerary

Day 1-3: Jack's Camp

Your first three nights will be spent at the legendary Jack’s Camp, adorned with a classic East African safari feel. One of the most original and exciting camps in Africa, it sits in a striking spot on the edge of Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Pans. Here the safari experience is unique, and the living desert is constantly full of surprises. At first sight, the lunar-like salt pans appear devoid of life, but in the hands of the of the knowledgeable camp guides the story of the Makgadikgadi begins to unfold.

Throughout your stay you will find an impressive choice of extraordinary activities and desert culture experiences to enjoy in and around camp. From interacting with the habituated meerkats, going on guided walks or game drives, quad biking out into the remnants of the super lake, hunting for stone tools in the crusty salt flats or seeing the world through the eyes of the San Bushmen – this is where unreal style, meets real adventure.

Day 4-6: Tawana

Tawana is set amongst a gathering of ebony and sausage trees in the south-east Moremi Game Reserve of the Okavango Delta, where you’ll spend your next three nights. It stands in harmony with the lush forests and grasslands that line the banks of the perennial Gomoti river, blending the romance of a contemporary safari camp with unforgettable safari experiences.

When it comes to wildlife, seasoned African travellers speak of the Moremi in awe. Stretching across nearly 5000 square kilometres [1900 square miles], this is a magical corner of Botswana renowned for its high concentration of antelope, predators and large herbivores. Tawana is entirely unfenced, allowing the wildlife to wander right through the heart of the camp, unhindered and the wildlife in and around camp is off the charts.

Additional Information

Logistics / Seasons

This safari starts and ends in Maun in Botswana. One of the best times to visit the Makgadikgadi Pans is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. During this time, the pans are dried up and you can easily access them for activities like quad biking, game viewing, and stargazing. During green season, which runs from November to March-June, witness the second largest migration of zebra and wildebeest in Africa (and it’s the last remaining one in Southern Africa). Peak season for the Okavango Delta is between April and October. While the game is plentiful year-round the dry months from July to October are peak season for game-viewing, as grassland waterholes dry up and animals are drawn to perennial water sources. Between June and September, the annual floodwaters of the Okavango delta reach their peak. With the Gomoti River flowing in front of Tawana, expect remarkable wildlife sightings in and around the camp.

Price from $14,337 green season (10 Jan-31 March) to $17,652 peak season (1 July – 31 Aug)
