Part of our conservation and outreach work involves supporting projects we believe make a real difference and one such initiative is Wild Vision.
Young children with early onset vision impairment can experience delayed motor, language, emotional, social and cognitive development with lifelong consequences. We’ve worked with Wild Vision to address this in rural parts of Botswana by bringing efficient on-site eye testing and eyeglass distribution to remote schools.
The Wild Vision team are now back home, washing away the mud splatters of the bush, having recently returned from their humanitarian mission.
The journey took the team to rural schools in and around the Okavango Delta, performing eye tests for 2,211 children, and giving out 86 sets of glasses to those in need in the process.
The Natural Selection Trust supported the venture, along with our Khwai Private Reserve lodges; Mapula Lodge; Meno a Kwena and Planet Baobab.
We previously supported a Wild Vision endeavour back in 2019 when the team tested 4,211 children and some adults and distributed 154 free set of glasses, handing out environmental educational material at the same time.
A worthy cause indeed. Sometime the simplest things really do make the biggest difference.
